Description
William Turnbull, a well known San Francisco Bay Area architect (he designed Fisher Winery, Cakebread Cellars and Newton Vineyards) founded Johnson Turnbull Vineyards in 1979. From the winery: "Turnbull Cellars was designed to be low-key and in tune with its environment, and is a classic example of a small, hands-on Napa Valley winery. William Turnbull once said, 'You want to have an image of a winery that cares about the last drop of wine in the bottle.' That tradition is carried on today."
Notes of Bing cherries, blackberries, and spicy red currants draw the nose to deeper tones of black figs, dark chocolate, cedar, and sage. The palate satisfies aromatic promises, as deftly balanced tannins highlight impressive acid lift, freshness, and tension, while boasting richness and roundness through the finish.
