Stillwater vodka is made from single malt barley, in a similar fashion to the distillation process of making malt whiskey. What separates Stillwater vodka from "white dog whiskey" or "moonshine" is the proof to which it is distilled: it becomes vodka (and more neutral, smooth, etc.) at 190 proof before being blended back down to the generally marketable (and palatable) 80 proof.
