Description

In the 18th century, this Chateau produced some of the most esteemed wines of Bordeaux. Abandoned during the 19th century, Jean-Jacques Lesgourgues replanted 112 acres close to Chateau Haut Brion after clearing the land. Made from 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon this blend is unusually powerful for a Graves showcasing the versatility of the terroir. Intense yet well balanced from nose to finish, aromas of woodsy oak and herbs de Provence waft from the vibrant ruby hues. Full-bodied on the palate you get juicy ripe red fruits up front followed by jammy blue and black fruits, warm vanilla, and nuances of baked spices. Finishing rich but more medium in length it has pops of minerality coming through. Intense and deep enjoy it now with some aerating or age through 2027. Pair with lamb, meats, aged cheeses, or any heavy dishes that are roasted, braised, and grilled.
