Gravel Pit is the brainchild of famed viticulturist Rob Sweeney. Rob’s family revived the now legendary estate of Vine Cliff in Oakville back in the mid-80s and he has since gone on to establish some of the most significant vineyards in Napa and Sonoma, including one that now belongs to Cult producer, Hundred Acre. After his success in the vineyards and at such wineries as Franciscan and Buena Vista, he is now producing a small amount of pinot noir and chardonnay under the Gravel Pit label.
The fruit for the Gravel Pit pinot noir comes from a highly sought after vineyard in Sonoma County. This handcrafted Pinot Noir is richly aromatic with fresh cherry and ripe strawberry jam. Seductively savory layers of baked harvest spices are seamlessly supported by bright balanced acidity. Round and full with a persistent, juicy finish that is structured yet smooth.
