From the Winery: "Armelle and Bernard RION, associated with their daughters Nelly, Mélissa, Alice and her husband Louis, are working on 8 hectares, mostly on Côte de Nuits. In the vineyard and in the wine making, the RION family works traditionally using the knowledge of the past generations. Since 2019, Domaine Armelle et Bernard Rion is certified “Environmental High Value” level 3.
This wine comes from little plots in the same area (1.1 hectare) located in the North of Nuits-Saint-Georges, at the border of the Vosne-Romanée’s village appellation. For this field and for each vineyard of the Domaine, the family RION makes a sustainable and rational agriculture without insecticide and herbicide.
For the anecdote, Marguerite RION was one of the women of the winery who worked her whole life in the vineyard next to her husband, Louis RION.
The crop is totally picked by hand and then fully destalked. The full berries (not crushed) will then ferment in a cement tank for about 2 weeks. The grapes are treaded manually every day. After the press, the wine will age in our cellar in French oak barrels for about 15 months (45% of new oak barrels).
In its first years, the Nuits-Saint-Georges Dame Marguerite shows a round and powerful body with a multitude of red and black fruits flavors. With ageing, you will taste earthy and mushroom flavors.
